CHELSEA HOUSE
LONDON
Project brief:
Location:
Chelsea – London
Scale:
320 sqm / 3,400 sq. ft.
Project type:
Residential
Project info:
This once single house was being used as a bedsit by the previous owner. When it came under the ownership of our client, Prestige Architects was appointed to update the property and restore it into a single dwelling.
The client’s requirements were to fully refurbish the building and extend/reconfigure the space to create four bedrooms with ensuites over two floors, with two levels of living space (formal and informal) and a games room.
A substantial extension of the building created a generous formal living room, with an annex servery connecting the main kitchen at ground floor level with a dumbwaiter. A playroom and large informal entrance hall complete with ample storage for coats and shoes provides a welcoming entry space on the lower ground floor.
A new staircase core was installed with a unique design to provide a functional yet elegant aesthetic. The top floor loft was partially reduced to create a double-height space with skylights allowing natural light to permeate the building.
All joinery and floors were carefully designed by the studio with bespoke details and premium materials and finishes, in combination with state-of-the-art Savant technology controlling the entire house and Lutron lighting incorporated throughout.
