Complete refurbishment of a double fronted Grade II listed house

This home renovation involved a complete refurbishment of a double-fronted Grade II listed house in Chelsea. The property originally featured décor dating back to the 1970s and was in desperate need of refreshing and modernisation. Given the Grade II listed status of the building, it was crucial to preserve specific period features as part of the protected heritage.

The client’s brief focused on achieving a family home suited to their needs while maximising the potential of the building and modernising it while maintaining its traditional architectural character. Throughout the process, we paid great attention to preserving the original envelope and soul of the building, despite its delicate and poor condition.

Through strategic planning and tailored design of the space, we created an ideal family home comprising three bedrooms, two bathrooms, a cloakroom, a spacious living room, and a dining room. Additionally, we included a kitchen with a breakfast bar area with access to the rear courtyard.

We successfully introduced contemporary living into the property, delicately balancing the original ornate features with modern pieces. We installed new timber flooring throughout the home, bespoke joinery, Italian stone finishes, and sanitary ware, as well as underfloor heating. Throughout this project, we worked closely with the client from the initial concept to completion, helping them turn their vision into reality.
