Full Refurbishment and Extension
The project included a complete refurbishment as well as internal alterations to develop and restore the property back into a single dwelling.
The core architectural requirements included stripping out the house and extending the living space on the lower ground floor, utilising the high ceilings to create a contemporary and spacious open-plan living area. New underfloor heating was installed, and a new walk-on glass installed in the garden, extending the living area to the outdoor terrace. The project also included the refurbishment of three bedrooms and five bathrooms following the client’s requirements and executed within a short timeframe.
It was important to fulfil the client’s aspirations and present suitable interior design schemes, utilising the space to its maximum potential. A key element for the client was to increase the storage space as part of a family home. Extending the building where possible was the first approach together with designing bespoke joinery complete with integrated lighting. The property was totally refitted to make the space a more suitable family residence overall.
The project included removal of the existing floor finishes and the installation of a new light oak timber floor throughout. All sanitary ware was replaced, and bathrooms refitted using a selection of Marco’s preferred Italian finishes, including a stunning mosaic in the master bathroom. The project incorporated underfloor heating across the lower ground floor for that complete feel of a luxury home rebuild.
The project was carried out ensuring care and attention to detail. Working with a historic building, specifically of a Grade II status creates some restrictive design challenges in terms of complying with the conservation regulations; however, there are always ways to enhance period features and combine them with a refreshed and contemporary look. This traditional house conversion became the perfect family home for the client and his family to reside in.
